This sheep sculpture at Castlefield Urban Heritage Park is by Ted Roocroft. It is situated in the small park at Castlefield where the foundations of the old Roman settlement can be seen in front of the replica fort.

The design, which utilizes Concrete and limestone on a slate plinth, was originally entered into a competition in 1986 as a statue for peace. It was not the winning design but was still commissioned. The competition was to celebrate the fact that Manchester had just declared itself a nuclear free area, the first city in the world to do so.
